April Whitlow Bura on the UK longboarding scene

Hailing from the US, April became a full member of the #UKlongboarders scene after meeting Spanish rider Cristina aka @ballerignar, who like many longboarders, is both an accomplished #longboardancer and #downhill rider.

April started skating 'late' (at 21), which is not uncommon. 'Ann Marie (@bodymindstrengthening) started in her thirties (ndlr: last September!) and is already competing! #downhillskateboarding might sound niche, but it was such a strong part of the sports when I arrived in the UK, that it was a natural progression for me. Today at the #razorbackgames2016 I got really nervous in my first heats, you know that feeling in the pit of your stomach that goes into your legs… But everyone was so supportive and after a couple of clean runs, we collectively decided to do a women's finals, which is such a great thing for the girls downhilling scene! We've known each other through different disciplines, @katyakrasner from the #LongboardGirlsCrewIsrael was there, as were Sheree and @sabinaedwards from @BrightonLongboardLadies who always are a great bunch to have around!'
