Women finally get their first WSL BigWave Challenge!

This is @paigealms on a 💣 at #peahichallenge, sealing her victory at the first #womens #bigwave #wsl event! This is what a woman with regular access to the #lineup can do. And this is just the beginning.

What a long road it's been! Last year, The Wave I Ride, a film by @devyn_bisson, first presented #PaigeAlms' story to the world: her recovery from injury and struggle to juggle training and making ends meet in a sport with no #sponsorship for #femaleathletes; the first bittersweet international women's bigwave heat with the worst effort at #equalpay... Yes, today the @wsl all-male #commentating team still struggled with #gender #stereotype: 'I like the colour of their boards, that's what women do! That pink! From a fashion standpoint!', (not praising @gerglong on how that red complements his hair so well 😘?). But today was still a landmark in #womensport: 3 heats, 3 injuries, 12 #badasswomen, $50k prize 💰, millions of butterflies, and we hope, many, many more #bigwavetour events!
